On behalf of the Barron County Republican Party Executive Committee, I want to thank Lorna Meyer and the whole Lincoln Day Dinner Planning Committee along with all those who helped plan and execute a hugely successful Lincoln Day Dinner. With a 110 in attendance, the night was filled with conservative speakers, generously donated prizes, fellowship, and comedic political humor. We want to thank the 50 individuals and business owners who contributed nearly a hundred prizes and auction items to make the night a financial success. Coupled that with the generosity of the 110 in attendance to purchase tickets, bid on items and have a little fun in the process contributed to a great Lincoln Day Dinner.
A shout out to Pastor Cody Kargus for providing a heartfelt invocation to start our night out in traditional Republican fashion, inviting God into our presence and giving thanks to Him for allowing us to live in the greatest nation in the world.
Keynote speaker Sheriff Scott Knutson from St. Croix County spoke on the tragedy of May 6, 2023, when St. Croix Sheriff Deputy Kaitlin Leifing was fatally shot while in the line of duty. As well as the loss of two police officers, Cameron Officer Hunter Scheel and Chetek Officer Emily Breidenbach who were fatally shot on April 8, 2023, while on duty. Sheriff Knutson addressed the character of the fallen officers and the impact their deaths had not only on the law enforcement community but the greater community at large.
Senator Romaine Quinn did an outstanding job as expected outlining the insanity in Madison as it related democrats not supporting Bills that would prevent biological males from participating in female sports. Democrats not supporting middle class tax cuts considering the state having a 5-billion-dollar surplus. Democrats not supporting legislation banning transgender surgeries on minors.
Conservative Radio Talk Show host Meg Ellefson addresses her conversion from being a Democrat to becoming an outspoken Conservative Republican. A compelling story of why she believes the Republican Platform better serves Americans and our constitutional freedoms.
Congressman Tom Tiffany capped off the night giving insight into topics that the current Biden administration is simple missing in action on. Issues from the lack of border security, allowing millions of bad actors into our country unchecked. Fentanyl crisis killing nearly 100,000 American’s annually. Broken justice system, lack of support for law enforcement and the rule of law. The wars and conflicts the Biden administration has no answer for how to resolve or what the outcomes will be. He took Q&A from those in attendance, Tom did an outstanding job as well. Want to thank Tom for driving 3.5 hours after attending two other Lincoln Day events in the eastern part of the 7th district.
In summary, it was a great evening for conservatives and the members of the Barron County Republican Party.
Until next time, keep the faith and spread the word, sincerely BCRP Chr. Randy Cook.
